    family

My whole family is coming up here in just a few days! I am so excited for my sister, brother-in-law and nephew to see this place that I have lived in for over 10 months! It will be nice to spend time with everyone! I do wish they could come up more often, but I suppose I should enjoy the moments we do have.

    identity

So, in my previous post I mentioned the shock and disappointment in what happened to our student ministry this week. However…in just a matter of days, everything turned around for the better! Last night and this morning we held our GSM excursion and it was a blast! We had fun, talked about identity in Christ and just had a crazy time together! Events such at these give me hope for the future and confidence in our students! They’re great! And above all, God is good! He takes care of us, and reminds us of the bigger picture, even though we may lose sight! God is good!

    shock

Our student ministry had been planning for this big spring retreat coming up this weekend. We just found out yesterday we won’t be having it because the lack of numbers from both ours and another church. It’s so frustrating. Youth Ministry is a mystery to me, sometimes. It’s specifically why that’s not my main/only focus…because I know I would get easily frustrated and burned out. But I know God has chosen me and many other great people to use their gifts to minister to teens. I know we have to come to them, I know we have to meet the culture, I know we have to make it “cool”…But that…

    the raven

The last three stanzas from “The Raven”: “Prophet!” said I, “thing of evil – prophet still, if bird or devil!By that Heaven that bends above us – by that God we both adore -Tell this soul with sorrow laden if, within the distant Aidenn,It shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels name Lenore -Clasp a rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore.” Quoth the Raven, “Nevermore.” “Be that word our sign in parting, bird or fiend,” I shrieked, upstarting —”Get thee back into the tempest and the Night’s Plutonian shore!Leave no black plume as a token of that lie thy soul hath spoken!Leave my loneliness unbroken!— quit…

    one year (cont)

I am in awe of how much my life has changed in just one year. God does amazing things and I feel as if I have grown so much! I know I still have many years of growing and many experiences, and challenges, but I feel that the change that has occurred has been for the best. One year ago last Friday, I discovered where I would be placed on internship. At times it feels as if it were just yesterday, but more often it feels as if it was a long time ago. So much has happened this year and it is about to change again, when I begin…

“Even though you can’t see them at all…A person’s a person, no matter how small.”

Today was a beautiful day…the sun was shining, it was WARM (well, 50+ degrees), but I loved it! It was a little hint of all the spring that is to come! I hope it’s that warm next week on Easter! That would be awesome! Anyway, tonight I went and saw “Horton Hears a Who”, which I was super excited to see! And…it definitely lived up to its expectations! I am sure I read the book when I was younger, but it has been awhile, but I remembered the message, and what a great message to portray in a movie…especially today. I mean, for the most part kids movies aren’t too…

    the devil is bad…

I think that is a title or phrase from a old song by a Christian group whose name slips my mind at the moment. But anyway, I spent the last two weeks in what most would call a “funk.” I was completely unmotivated, and could hear these voices (no, I’m not crazy, like that) telling me “You aren’t good enough.” , “That will never work.” , “Why bother?” and only in hindsight did I realize that it was the devil, indeed. He’s very good at getting inside our minds and making us think there is something wrong with us and that we can’t do anything that we want to…but the…

    the call

So, a lot of conversation I have had lately is related to “the call.” I am on internship and have officially been extended my first call. However, I find the whole concept difficult to wrap my brain around. Perhaps, the reason is because I have never had this happen to me before. It’s a decision I will likely have to make a few times over the next several years. Thankfully, most of the questions and discussions have been positive and I just have to pray and trust that God is going to use me effectively in ministry, where ever I end up, or whatever I am doing…

    jane

So, this past weekend I rented the movie, “Becoming Jane” I have wanted to see it for awhile, because I love movies about real people…even if they say the story is somewhat made-up. I have to admit I watched it several times and I found it quite refreshing. I love period pieces because of the costume and such, but also because they reveal that human nature was not any different in the past then it is now. Perhaps it was a romantic comedy, but I think of it more as a romantic reality. I recommend it though, for those of you who love Jane Austen, or just books and English…

    the beginning

Perhaps I am being a follower, but reading other people’s blogs has inspired me to create my own. I like to write, and I think I need a space where I can do it openly and freely. I won’t mind if no one reads this…I would rather just have a place of my own. This is not for my glory, only for God’s.
