    2020 Reflection: Savor

The season of Advent seem like the perfect time to reflect on this past year and begin to look ahead. Here’s the post I first wrote about how I chose this word and the Scriptural connection. It started rather silly with a gift we purchased for ourselves at Christmas time last year. After we were married, Jack and I decided we would not give gifts to one another for the holidays, but that travel or an experience would be our way to make memories. An unexpected financial donation came to us and we decided to purchase a fancy coffee machine! Each morning that I’ve gotten to use it, I’ve SAVORED…

    Savor: A Reflection

Since this strange season began just a few weeks ago, I have been reflecting on how I have been taking advantage of my 2020 word in these first few, long months. In late December 2019, as I selected the word ‘Savor’ for 2020, I imagined the opportunities that would arise. When I selected the word “Savor” this is the verse that came to mind. On January 1, 2020, I woke up in the middle of the tour of a life time of the Holy Land, savoring every moment of that trip. On January 10, 2020, I woke up in my own bed, ready to enjoy 3 more weeks of rest…

    The Value of the Desert

I shared this devotion in worship this weekend and wanted to share it with all of you as well. What is the value in the desert? This question was raised to our group as we toured the Holy Land this past holiday season. Sounds like an odd question to ask, because what could such a barren place possibly offer?  For the Israelites, this was a wilderness full of wandering. For Jesus, he experienced temptation and fasting for 40 days. How could this place have any value? Yet, God taught me about His provision of water in these desert places.  In the Jordan River, Jesus was baptized by John to show us…

    Passport to Jesus: Temple Mount

I am leading a Bible study during the season of Lent at my church about Holy Week. I began this weekend and due to the advancement of technology we were able to live stream it! This is one of the ways you can learn more about my experience and connect it to your own faith journey. Blog posts and pictures are still in progress, but hopefully this is a tool that you can use in your own walk through Lent and study of God’s Word! Check out the live stream here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kX9S1k00qDk&feature=youtu.be

    “Welcome Home!”

I am excited to share with you about my trip to the Holy Land, which I experienced just about a month ago.  This weekend was my first one back with my local community of believers. It’s the best way to explain how I plan to approach what I share with you.  While “Welcome Home” is a sentiment many of you have and will say to me, it’s actually the first thing our tour guide said to us when we got on the bus in Israel.  The Holy Land is where God created humanity, therefore it is our home. It’s the place where Jesus was born, taught and died, therefore it’s…
