On Monday as I was driving to work I wondered, “Why haven’t the leaves changed? After all, it’s mid-October!” My absolute favorite part of fall, (and there are many) are the changing leaves. The colors become so sharp and breathtaking!
On Tuesday as I was driving to work, I suddenly noticed the leaves were changing!
Change usually doesn’t happen that fast.
But there is a lesson in how we view change.
Sometimes it is happening and we do not even notice. Most likely the leaves have been changing and I have not been paying attention. There is plenty of other worries and thoughts that have taken priority. Change occurs and I often only see it in hindsight.
It feels like I am approaching a season of change (although I have felt it for quite some time). And while change can be scary and unknown, there is also hope in change, especially when you’ve been waiting for it.
But in the midst of change, whether it happens quickly or over a long period of time, the constant is the presence and love of God, our Father.
6 “‘I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed. 7 Ever since the time of your ancestors you have turned away from my decrees and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you,’ says the Lord Almighty.” – Malachi 3:6-7
