Freedom of Religion – #25

On this 25th day of November, I was reminded of how thankful I am to live in a country that provides freedom of religion and freedom to speak of it.

I have many friends who were either born in other countries or currently live there, who are Christian and may not speak up about it because of their family or living situation.

How, as Christians in the US, we definitely take this for granted! We can share Bible verses on our Facebook walls and attend worship and even pray in public places.

I won’t get on my soapbox, but I am easily agitated at the idea that some have, which is to think that somehow our religious freedoms are being minimized because of government regulations or other things.

Jesus is above the law, and as Christians, we are not God (or above the earthly law), but we are to trust our God and the power given to those in authority. We are not in chains (literally or figuratively) because of the saving grace of Jesus Christ!

Once, I had a friend share that she “celebrated Christmas in her heart” because she could not sing praises or pray aloud the joy of her heart because of her Savior’s birth. Thanks to God for those of us who can worship our Lord and share His Good News!

  1. Amen to that! I was at a church this morning filled with Iranians who have been driven out of their country because of their religion. Americans have it pretty good.
