Fall is my absolute favorite season of the year, but I am not always ready for its arrival.
This summer was a particularly challenging one with some health issues and stress at work. I didn’t get to indulge in my usual family vacation and it wasn’t as relaxing a summer as I would have liked. So, when school started again and the weather turned cooler, I wasn’t quite ready.
But then October arrived and I now I am ready to embrace my favorite season!
The leaves are changing colors, the humidity is disappearing and we have arrived at the time of the year with perfect running weather and warm beverages! It’s also the only season where I eat apples: They have to be: 1) Honeycrisp and 2) perfectly ripe.
Came across this quote on Facebook yesterday and I tend to agree:
“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers. It would be terrible if we just skipped from September to November, wouldn’t it?”
– Anne of Green Gables, L.M. Montgomery
I went on a run yesterday and ran right by a big pile of leaves. I stopped, turned around to admire them and take a picture! I had been so busy these last few weeks that I hadn’t even noticed that the leaves were beginning to change!
We now have two full months in the autumn season before another change arrives. There is no guarantee on what the actual weather will look or feel like, but I am ready to embrace and enjoy this season and everything that comes with it!
