It’s time to shop! I don’t know about you, but when it comes to gift giving, each one has to be personal to the receiver. Even when I am buying off of registries I sometimes go off course to get something that is unique to the person or couple I am buying for. I try to honor registries, too, because they are in place for a reason, but it’s a balance.
I love Christmas time, but mostly because of Jesus and family. The gifts are secondary, but I still love the tradition of gift-giving. However, I don’t like the spectacle it has been turned into, as mentioned in a previous post.
It’s not like I dread it, but the season comes up very quickly and if I haven’t thought through who is getting what, it is stressful. This year, I’ve started my shopping early. Our youth group had a fundraiser at church was I was able to purchase a bunch of items for a great price (I don’t spend hardly anything at all, but keep them personal, still the same!). And now, in my 31 day writing challenge, I’ve come across another blog called Homemade Fig, where the writer posts her favorite Etsy shops.
I was a bit skeptical on this one, because Etsy can be as overwhelming as Pinterest. But as I scrolled through her posts, I was coming across many personal gifts that I knew family and friends would love! I am not going to give away my selections, but just trust me, check out her blog! It’s the best of both worlds, because it’s personalized gifts without spending too much time looking at everything.
I am well on my way to being done with Christmas shopping and I’ve done it all online from the convenience of the couch! It’s an even better experience when it has been enjoyable and I have been able to add my personal touch. It really is better to give than to receive.
