“Three words for you.”
It’s one of my favorite concepts from the show, “Parks and Rec.” And if you have no idea what I am talking about watch this:
I am not the attention grabber and I am very bad at rewarding myself, too. I usually say, “yay” (in my mind) and then move on to the next task.
But many loved ones in my life have helped me to realize the importance of celebrating and savoring the joyful times.
As I approach my birthday month, I have been thinking about how I want to celebrate a new year. Last year was a milestone birthday and I don’t want to try and top it, but I always want to make it special. Sometimes I put pressure on myself to make it perfect, but it’s not about that, it’s about doing what I want to do to celebrate the life I have been given.
I am not too materialistic, but I like certain types of personalized items and activities. I have started to almost exclusively shop for clothes online because it’s so easy to do! I have come across new companies that are selling personalized jewelry and unique, made in america gadgets. I just bought a Groupon for my favorite cupcake shop and have been contemplating a manicure (even though I love my Jamberry wraps, too)!
So starting in November, I am going to live by the birthday theme, “Treat Yo’ Self”! I am not going to go crazy and buy everything in site, but if I have been eyeing something, I will buy it for myself! If there is an activity I would like to do that I wouldn’t normally do, I am going to enjoy it! It’s time to reward myself without feeling guilty for spending money or time where I wouldn’t typically spend it. More often than not, those experiences are just as memorable as any others.
You are loved. You live life to the fullest. It’s time to “Treat Yo’ Self!”!
