Music that Inspires: Dark Side of the Moon

One of the things that I have come to admire from my friends who appreciate and are more knowledgeable about music, is the idea of the album and enjoying a collection of songs, rather than just one here or there.

I am the type to hear a great song on the radio, but not really appreciate the rest of the album. The creation of purchasing music online has not helped that, either. I wish that it was the norm (like the days of old) to buy an entire album, rather than just songs that you heard and were ‘popular’.

There are exceptions, however and quite a few, if I am going to be honest and try to appreciate all types of music. But it’s rare now that I will buy an entire album, and I wish to pursue that because of the albums that I have been introduced to.

Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon” was one album I had never heard until several months ago.

I have to give my husband credit for introducing me to this one. I know it’s very famous, but as an amateur of music, I have never truly appreciated the whole spectrum of an album.

You can listen to the whole album on You tube here, but I would really just recommend downloading and putting it on your iPod or MP3 player and listening to the whole thing at once. I listened to it for the first time on a run and it was pretty cool!

So, friends, what are some of your favorite albums? I would love to download some more and learn and appreciate music and the artists who create it!
