I know it’s not Easter yet, but why isn’t our Easter celebration highlighted in every worship service?
It was great to see so many people in worship on Palm Sunday and I will say the same on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday, but I always wonder why we don’t make such a big deal every Sunday?
We send out invitations to invite people to worship at Christmas and Easter, but why not for just a Sunday in July?
I want to be thankful when anyone new comes to worship, regardless of the reason, but how can we go about making every worship service feel as special as this one? After all, we celebrate Easter every Sunday! We rise for the Holy Gospel reading to honor our RISEN Lord. We sing songs of praise to our God who fulfilled his promise for deliverance.
How can we go out into the world and help people understand that the community of believers is worth being a part of for more than just a few services a year? How can we connect with people while they are here and encourage their return?
My Easter prayer is that I will be more conscious of those around me who may be worshiping for the first time, or haven’t set foot inside a church since last year. My prayer is that the Holy Spirit will give me the words of encouragement and the desire to not just keep to myself, but welcome others and show them what faith and the journey with God is all about.
Easter is all about Jesus and in this week, we need to focus on Him and what He wants from us; for others to truly know Him.
