I love how New Testament writers reference the prophecies of the Old Testament writers and prophets.
“I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in, 26 and in this way all Israel will be saved. As it is written:
‘The deliverer will come from Zion;
he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.
27 And this is my covenant with them
when I take away their sins.'” Romans 11:25 – 27
“’The Redeemer will come to Zion,
to those in Jacob who repent of their sins,’
declares the Lord.” – Isaiah 59:20
The chorus of this song kept playing over in my head as I was writing this post:
Even though the Israelites were disobedient, God’s promise had already been made since the fall and woudl be fulfilled. Even when we are disobedient, God’s mercy is delivered to us through Jesus. His blood is the redemption for our sin and the sin of the whole world.
