Two days in a row, God is speaking to me through this blog post. Today’s name for Jesus, Cornerstone, reminds me of a song, which I just sang with fellow ministry servants at a meeting this morning.
6 “For in Scripture it says:
‘See, I lay a stone in Zion
a chosen and precious cornerstone,
and the one who trusts in him
will never be put to shame.’” – 1 Peter 2:6, NIV
16 “So this is what the Sovereign Lord says:
“See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone,
a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation;
the one who relies on it
will never be stricken with panic.” – Isaiah 28:16, NIV
The New Testament points to the Old Testament. The Old Testament points to God. There is always a path back to the source, which is the LORD.
Jesus Christ is our cornerstone, the piece that guarantees a solid foundation. Our faith starts with Him. When we put our trust in Him, we need not fear anyone or anything else. He is holy and precious and gives us safety in His arms.
