I haven’t done this on my blog, but I have thought of some goals for myself in the new year and I want to put them down in writing and keep myself accountable.
We’ve all made resolutions and broke them, so if that happens, it’s not the end of the world, but isn’t it always good to strive for something?
I could do this anytime of the year, but I like the idea of dedicating a specific few days to setting up the next year of life.
I looked over a post I had written about life goals and you can check out an update here. Only really a couple of things were checked off that list. That’s OK, because I am living life to the fullest and enjoying and embracing each moment as best as I can.
On to 2014…
#1 – Read more.
When did I become someone who didn’t like to read? It’s very strange for me to pick up a book, and not be able to just sit and read for hours. Sometime in the last few years, I lost a sense of how to do that, and I really want it back. So, I am not going to set an amount of time or a number of books, but I am going to strive to read more.
#2 – Spend less time on my phone.
I definitely don’t mean talk time. My phone is a link to my family and friends that live far away. I gotta keep that habit up! But if you have a smart phone you probably know what I mean. I play too many games on my phone. I would have been a lazy child if I had had video games (we chose a computer instead), and even that took up a lot of my time. Games aren’t bad, but I play too many and spend time, which I could be spent on reading or other quality activities, on my phone. I also feel more disconnected (I know, ironic, right?) when I am on my phone.
#3 Dedicate more time and effort to my health.
I am already a fairly healthy person in both diet and exercise, but I definitely want to be more intentional. I know I am not old, but I hear from family and friends that turning 30 is a change and it’s one that should be noticed health-wise. I want to take care of what I have been given and feel good, too.
Three goals that are simple and to the point. They also are broad enough to incorporate so much more and I am looking forward to that!
What are your goals for 2014?
