    Unexpected Blessings

Next on my list of posts is an explanation of the new title. In the last year or so of my life, a lot of unexpected events have splashed in front of me. The word, ‘unexpected’ to me means unplanned and spontaneous.  We never know what life will throw at us, but if we look at through the lens God provides, we can take it on, enjoy it or conquer it. Even some of the more difficult and unexpected events have brought joy and blessing to my life. As I continue on this journey, which God blesses everyday, I want to embrace the unexpected and look for how He uses…

    Adventure in Europe: Day 3

Day 3 – Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010: After a few hours of catching up with Kory & Cara, we got a good night’s rest and woke up to the small of wonderful pastries from the Boulangerie (which are bakeries where the Europeans go to buy all their bread).  It was heavenly! We also could walk out on their balcony or just look out there window and see the beautiful Alps!  Kory, Sam, Lucy, Liz and I all headed off to the market while Cara headed to a doctor’s appt.  We walked from Barberaz, where they live, into Chambery, which is about 20-25 minutes. It was a pleasant walk and fun…

    Adventure in Europe: Day 2

Day 2 – Friday, Sept. 3, 2010: Today we landed in Sweden and spent a short time in the Stockholm airport. It was beautiful and bright with lots of windows and gorgeous wooden floors. It was interesting to note the security in different airports. In Sweden we went through security again and customs too. We got our passports stamped which we weren’t expecting…SWEET! Along the way, we met some memorable characters. I told my friend Liz that we should have asked there names, but since we didn’t, we gave them nicknames instead.  On our plane ride we met “airplane girl” (I know, so original). She was actually on her way…

    Adventure in Europe: Day 1

While in Europe, I journaled and thought it would be neat to share our adventures with you! It’s hard to sum it up when asked how the trip was, so here you will get a taste of what we experienced! Day 1 -Thursday, Sept. 2nd, 2010: Today is the day! We boarded a plane this afternoon and we are on our way to Stockholm and then to Geneva!    The plane ride was uneventful in a good way, but we kept ourselves amused. We listened to Ricky Martin and Britney Spears on the 90’s station and plan to video ourselves singing along on the way home.  And now on to Friday,…

    Letting Go

A song that has spoken to my heart recently… I’m Letting Go My heart beats, standing on the edgeBut my feet have finally left the ledgeLike an acrobatThere’s no turning backI’m letting goOf the life I planned for meAnd my dreamsI’m losing controlOf my destinyIt feels like I’m falling and that’s what it’s like to believeSo I’m letting goThis is a giant leap of faithTrusting and trying to embraceThe fear of the unknownBeyond my comfort zoneGiving in to your gravityKnowing You are holding meI’m not afraid Feels like I’m falling and that’s what it’s like to believeFeels like I’m falling and this is the life for me Artist: Francesca Battistelli

    Of all places…

During this season of Lent, my fast has been of facebook. And I have been successful in not getting on. But for the first 4 1/2 weeks I’ve struggled with taking the time not on facebook and putting it towards my relationship with God.  My personal devotion time has been less than stellar, yet the desire has not gone away…I just couldn’t do it. The ‘why’ I don’t know, but I wasn’t making it a part of my daily routine.  Finally I did it and I felt refreshed! Why don’t I remember that every time I turn away? I picked up my devotion in the book of Proverbs and found…

    …the morning after death

I feel like I’ve been surrounded by death in recent weeks. It’s inevitable for us all who live on this earth, but with each one, it is just a reminder of the importance of relying on God and His comfort. I read this poem in another blog and it took my breath away… The Bustle in a House the Morning After Death The Bustle in a HouseThe Morning after DeathIs solemnest of industriesEnacted opon Earth –The Sweeping up the HeartAnd putting Love awayWe shall not want to use againUntil Eternity ––Emily Dickinson
