He’s (or She’s) Just Not that Into You

I went and saw this movie over the weekend with a girlfriend. I was hoping that it would be fun and enjoyable to watch, and I am glad it lived up to that standard. Although I’ve heard a lot of negative comments, it doesn’t matter. Since when are these movies ever to be taken seriously? Since when are we supposed to expect realistc plot lines and stories? We aren’t and that’s the point. Although some situations may have been overexaggerated, so what? It was a fun way to look at the dating scene and if it makes you feel better…yay! I am also glad that it gave the woman’s perspective…

    v-day

I’ve never been a fan of valentine’s day. It’s not because I’ve been single for the majority of those, or an anti-romantic. It’s just the over-commercialization and stereotypes that come with the holiday. Since when is a person defined by their relationship? It seems that the closer that day gets, the more people focus on whether you are in a relationship or not. Did God create relationships? Of course. God is relationship. God IS love. Of course I want to find that special someone someday. Of course I want to be in a relationship. Of course I want to get married. But, I don’t want that to be my mission…

    witness

Miss Indiana, Katie Stam won the Miss America pageant last night. I did not see the show, only heard it, but what a witness she portrayed in her character, presentation and humbleness. Check out her talent portion of the competition: A powerful witness to what’s really important about our walk with God. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZYX50WhxCo&feature=channel

    epiphany

I don’t believe in coincidences…only in God’s love and care in my life. In this season of Epiphany…I am having epiphanies of my own. I know what Epiphany means in the church, but I was curious about the dictionary definition. According to merriamwebster.com, this is one of many: “…an intuitive grasp of reality through something (as an event) usually simple and striking: an illuminating discovery, realization, or disclosure.” More thoughts to come…

    free spirit

I never considered myself a free spirit, but maybe I am more than I thought. Sometimes I just want to travel and write. No schedule, no commitments, just going where I want; visiting family, friends, and seeing the world. I suppose I can do that now, but it’s harder when you have responsibilities. I wish I could challenge myself to sell what I have and follow Christ. Serve wherever he wants me to. But maybe that is what I am doing now, what I am supposed to be doing now. It’s God’s plan not mine, and I know He will give me the best. I just have to be patient…

    wonder drug

Zicam. Ever heard of it? I am calling it the wonder drug. I woke up yesterday morning all congested. My nose ran like there was no tomorrow and I just felt yucky. Then a friend told me about Zicam, and to take it on the onset of the symptoms. So I did. …And it worked! I woke up this morning a little stuffy, but my sinuses are much clearer and I feel 10 times better! Hopefully this feeling will last…
