Seek justice, love mercy, walk humbly with your God

A song came on the radio earlier this week that is not new, but one that caught my attention today. Courageous, by Casting Crowns has the following line in it, which is taken directly from Scripture:

Micah 6:8 says, He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

So often, I make it difficult, we all do. I think I have to live a certain way and do things in just the right order, to best serve God and be in relationship with him.

But life is complicated. And this world brings many unforeseen challenges that I don’t always deal with very well.

When I heard these three sentences, I thought, “It can be so simple.” God doesn’t make it difficult, we do. Really, sin is what blurs the lines we desire to walk.

Some really trying times are happening in our world today. It’s hard to sit back and watch it happen. But as a Christian, what is my role? How can I take action according to God’s will?

What does it truly mean to, “love one another” and how can I better live that out?

What does it mean to be humble and how am I challenged to be set apart in the world I live in?

Over the new few posts, I will unpack these three phrases and what I believe they mean for my life and my journey to love others like Jesus loves me.
