    Uncomfortable

We are approaching an anniversary that none of us want to relive. We are coming upon a year since the pandemic forced us into lockdown, and took away what was once normal. Last week, I began to feel anxiety, but I couldn’t put my finger on the depth of the emotion. I was feeling overwhelmed, but not necessarily stressed. I was feeling sad, but not hopeless. I was feeling helpless, but not of any less value. And then this weekend, as I was engaged in a coping method of watching reruns of my favorite shows: I named it. Uncomfortable. I feel uncomfortable. If I try and look too far forward,…

    UB of the Week

There were definitely a few unexpected blessings to share this week! When I was leading preschool chapel on Wednesday, a FOUR year old shared with me that her teenage brother and sister didn’t know Jesus. We talked about sharing stories about Jesus and praying for those we know who don’t know him. It was difficult, but also amazing to realize that she recognized this and my prayer is that the faith she has as a child, will be a witness to them. Yesterday, I attended an event which was the opportunity to encourage and connect women in sharing Jesus and serving the Lord. I will post a video with a…

    UB of the Week

Meant to post this earlier this week, but it’s been a pretty busy week! My unexpected blessing for the week came on the first day, Sunday. I was teaching a junior high Sunday school class and I never know what to expect with that group. Usually, they pleasantly surprise me and this time was no different. We were studying one topic, but as you may know, this is an age group that asks lots of questions, which I love (even when I have to tell the I don’t know). We got on a roll with several questions and were turning the pages in the Bible back and forth to find…

    Same blog, new look!

I may have changed platforms, but it’s still the same blog! I needed a new look and an updated base, so that I could do more! I am excited for what my blog will bring in 2014! With a new look to the blog, I wanted to dive deeper into how the title has grown richer for me since I began this blog almost two years. You can see the original post in reference to the title, here. But as I thought about why I describe the blessings in my life as ‘unexpected’,  I was reminded of the Parable of the Sower.  You may be familiar with the text, but I’ve…

    Unexpected Blessing of Today

It’s been awhile since I have posted one of these and it happened this morning and I had to share! After a full weekend, (where the majority was spent in the car), but a very fun time with friends and family…we had to drive through the night to get home. I was driving in the very early morning and had not slept in 24 hours, but yet, the sun rising and the view of the mountains in Western Maryland provided a sense of peace. The sun had risen another morning and I was alive and well! What a blessing, even with the lack of sleep!
