The Joy of Accessories (#write31days – Day 6)
I dreaded getting dressed in the morning in adolescence. It was awkward enough to feel uncomfortable in my own skin with the reality of a changing body and mind.
For the most part, I didn’t really purchase the name brands, but I certainly felt self-conscious about what I was wearing, in addition to the acne, glasses and braces.
Boy am I glad I grew up and out of that awkward phase! It took some time, but I finally feel as if I have my own style and I own it.
Sometimes, the accessories I wear are just the pick me up I need to bring joy to my morning!

Yesterday I had three items to complete my outfit:
- A peace necklace which I was told was my grandpa’s. I would love to hear the story behind that one….Where he got it, when he wore it, etc… I love that I am wearing a piece of history, but also something connected to my family.
- Orange Toms. I bought these and wore them at a National Youth Gathering, as part of the Community life team! They did a great job of representing the adult and young adult teams of volunteers who played a significant role in making the event a success! They are so fun, so I always try to pair them so they pop!
- A brightly colored bracelet with watch and “Joy” key.
I love the reminder that sometimes the small things can brighten my mood, giving me a joyful spirit as I take on what life is going to bring me that day!
