For the longest time, I’ve been hand making cards to send to family and friends. I usually do it for birthday and anniversaries, but also thank yous for gifts and lodging.
I know it’s the thought that counts, but card sending is so rare in this day and age, and creating something unique and handwriting a personal note, is what I really enjoy doing for a person. While gifts are enjoyable, the process of selection is painstaking for me, because I want the gift to be perfect and personal.
Recently, it’s not been something I have made time for, and as a birthday nears, I realize a card won’t arrive in time, so a person instead gets a FB post or text message, which is still meaningful, I realize, but not the same type of thought. I am currently working on thank you’s that should have been sent 3 weeks ago!
I’ve considered the idea of bulk making my cards to sell on Etsy, or looking into another excuse to make more cards, but my reality is that I enjoy the creation as a hobby and as a way to show care for my family and friends. It doesn’t need to be a monkey-making endeavor or a task to stress about.
My parents and a handful of relatives send me cards on my birthday. I love cards of any sort, whether store bought or handmade, it truly is the thought that counts.
I’m very appreciative of all the cards I’ve received over the years (in fact, I’ve had the idea to bind them into books as keepsakes…eventually I will complete that project). So, for all my friends and family who like to send cards, here is a giveaway from Dayspring for you! Enter to win $100 shopping spree on Dayspring.com
